Sorry Actually i accidently click on the Coreect answer TAB.Abzal i don't think the problem is Headoffice firewall bez all other branch offices VPN are terminated on PIX firewall at Headoffice.(Hub spoke VPN).All other branches are working fine.

I can ping the server IP and can remote into the server using the local IP over RDP once I connect to the VPN but can't access the shared folders at \\. The shares work when at the physical location.

Whatever I do the result is the same: /media/sf_sharedFolder/: Permission denied After this operation you can verify that your user is indeed in the vboxsf group by doing this: cat /etc/group | grep "vboxsf" you will see your username there.
